Captain Cicero Rufus "Rufe" Perry of the Company “D” Frontier Battalion (1822-1898), joined the Texas Rangers when he was 14 in 1836, and was involved in the siege of Bexar in 1835.
He served under several captains, including William Hill, John Moore, Samuel Highsmith, Thomas Green, Mark Lewis, and Jack Hays, before becoming a captain himself of Company D" in the 1874.
