This $1,000 Republic of Texas Treasury Warrant to President Sam Houston – and endorsed by him with his bold signature on the reverse side – written for "contingent expenses, Executive Department" and is dated May 31, 1843.
Partially printed, with a floral patterned frame and handwritten specifics filled in, the treasury warrant is also signed by Charles Mason as auditor and James B. Shaw as Comptroller.
