Dated December 11th, 1835, this document, signed by E.M. Pease as Secretary of the General Council, and James Robinson as Lt Governor and Exofficio President of the General Council, records the appointment of Don Carlos Barrett as Judge Advocate General.

Pease wrote this document himself after the unanimous decision to elect Barrett as "Judge Advocate General of the Armies of Texas, with the rank and pay of a Colonel in the line" after General Sam Houston requested.
